Fundraising – A Step-by-Step Guide

We promise fundraising can be easy - and even fun. We'll even hold your hand as we walk you through creating a really cool fundraising website and sending a personalized email to all your friends.

First, we will help you send an email to all your friends, co-workers and family members asking them to sponsor you. And, guess what - we have already written this email for you. You can either send the email through our Active.com online fundraising page, or you can mail or email your friends directly. All you need is your friends' addresses.

Second, if you really want to raise a lot of money, we will help you create your own personalized webpage so you can tell the world you are fundraising to help kids in the Boston Public Schools succeed. This is optional, though. By just signing up to ride we have already created for you a simple webpage.

Emailing Friends and Family

Emailing through Active.com (Easiest way)

1. Go http://www.active.com/donations/campaign_hq.cfm
2. Login as needed
3. From the tab on the second row, select either:
   1. Fundraise as an Individual - if you want to fundraise independently
   2. Create a Fundraising Team - if your group (company, club, school, family etc...) does not have a team yet and you want to create one!
   3. Join a Fundraising Team - if you want to join an existing team to help them reach their larger cumulative fundraising goal (select from pull-down menu)
4. Select Send E-mails on top menu of site
5. Enter recipient's e-mail addresses from your address book (you can add up to 200 contacts at a time - just separate names with a comma)
6. Select the template "Hub On Wheels Fundraising Email"
7. Click Send E-mail

Emailing & Mailing Directly

1. Copy or print the following letter. Click here
2. Personalize as you like.
